Chicken Coops

Predator-resistant backyard chicken coops with built-in nesting boxes, roosting bars, and a screened run — handcrafted to the same Mennonite standard as every Derksen building. Fresh eggs, happy hens, easy cleaning.

// What they're good for

Each coop pairs an enclosed, ventilated roost — with nesting boxes and roosting bars — to a framed, screened run that keeps raccoons, foxes, and hawks out. A dedicated clean-out door and a sturdy floor make mucking out quick.

Every coop delivers free within 50 miles of Sherman and qualifies for no-credit-check rent-to-own.

Chicken Coops FAQ

What's the difference between the sizes?
Flock size. The 8×12 is a starter coop for a small backyard flock; the 8×20 adds a walk-in screened run and more nesting boxes and roosts for a bigger flock.
Is it predator-proof?
The run is framed and screened with a locking door to keep out raccoons, foxes, and hawks; the enclosed roost area latches shut at night.
How many chickens does it hold?
Depends on size and how much run time they get — as a rule of thumb the 8×12 suits a small flock and the 8×20 a larger one. Ask Rick & Rick for a recommendation.
How do I clean it?
A dedicated clean-out door and a sturdy floor make mucking out and hosing down quick; nesting boxes and roosts are positioned for easy access.
